Job Overview
University Hospital Limerick is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) to work within the Medical Oncology service. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical care, leadership, and support to patients undergoing oncology treatment while contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced specialist nursing care to patients with oncology diagnoses.
- Act as a key clinical resource within the multidisciplinary oncology team.
- Coordinate patient care pathways and support continuity of care.
- Deliver patient education and counselling regarding treatment plans and symptom management.
- Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support evidence-based practice and service development within Medical Oncology.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with HSE standards.
- Contribute to staff education, mentorship, and professional development.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with active registration on the NMBI register.
- Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, including relevant oncology experience.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in Medical Oncology nursing.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in audit, research, or service improvement initiatives is desirable.
