Why contract type matters
A consultant's salary is set by which contract they hold:

- Legacy 2008 contracts (Types A, B and C): older contracts still held by many serving consultants, with different mixes of public and private practice — and correspondingly different scales. Type A (public-only) pays more than Type B/C variants that permit private practice.
