About the Role
The Information Governance & Insurance Officer is a senior compliance and operational role within Corlann West Region (Galway & Roscommon) that combines GDPR/Data Protection, Freedom of Information (FOI), Insurance Administration, Claims Management, and Information Governance responsibilities. The role is based in Galway City, County Galway, Ireland.
Reports to: Insurance & Information Governance Manager, Corlann West.
Working hours: 35 hours per week based on a 5-day duty roster. Contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8am and 8pm to meet the requirements of the service. The Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Annual leave: 30 days per annum.
Salary: €58,477–€71,441 per year.
Travelling expenses will be paid in respect of travel necessarily performed in the discharge of duty and in accordance with our Travel Policy. Travel to service locations throughout the region is a requirement of this role, and the post holder may be required to work from an alternative work location from time to time. The travel base for this purpose will be Woodlands, Renmore, Galway. This may be subject to change in the future.
TENURE: This position is permanent, full-time and pensionable.
PROBATION: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Qualifications: A relevant third level professional/academic qualification in business studies, health service management, legal or para-legal.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience & knowledge (+ 2 years’) of working in Data Protection legislation & records management and information governance.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience & knowledge (+2 years’) working in Insurance administration, risk management & Claims Administration management.
- Skills: Excellent leadership, team-working, communication and negotiation skills.
- Skills: Excellent Analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Skills: Excellent organisational & prioritisation skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Skills: Excellent administrative skills demonstrating a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Skills: A high level of ICT skills in a variety of systems including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skills: Ability to exercise professional judgement, discretion, integrity & confidentiality.
- Skills: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Skills: Full clean ‘B’ class driving license and use of own car.
Desirable Criteria:
- Certificate in Freedom of Information.
- Certificate in Data Protection.
- Experience in Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Insurance with the Public Service/Irish Healthcare system.
- Experience in/understanding of the public service/Irish Healthcare system.
- Training and advisory skills.
